The Tri-Cities Cancer Center offers cancer care coordination for patients and helps them and their families understand treatment and what to expect. Registered nurse care coordinators will serve as a patient advocates when needed, including management of care for patients undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy at the same time, assisting patients with insurance forms, DSHS applications, financial concerns and what to do when insurance is not enough. The care coordinators also provide referrals to community resources and services, and address special needs including Meals-on-Wheels, nutrition referrals, arrangements for transportation to and from the Cancer Center for treatment and doctors visits. The care coordinator oversees the patient mentoring program, and provides counseling and emotional support referrals to the appropriate agencies.
