The Power of Trilogy™

  • The new Trilogy™ system uses a combination of high quality imaging technology with a medical linear accelerator to deliver a powerful, focused radiation beam.
  • Treatment with the Trilogy™ linear accelerator is up to 60% faster than that delivered by a conventional accelerator.
  • The imaging system offers 2D, 3D, and moving images for image-guided patient positioning.
  • The system delivers every type of external beam radiotherapy, including radiosurgical procedures (coming in 2010).
  • Onboard imaging equipment allows for highly accurate image matching.
  • "Respiratory Gating" synchronizes the patient's breathing cycle with the machine as it delivers the treatment.
machine

Recently we invested in new radiotherapy technology. This new system will allow us to treat patients with radiation more precisely than ever before. That means we can target tumors at earlier stages, when they are quite small, as well as larger cancers or those that are more complex and require near pinpoint dosage accuracy, such as those affecting the brain.

tech

The system delivers the same intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) as the Center’s current conventional machine with the added benefit of image-guided radiotherapy and all other forms of external-beam radiation.

With this addition, the Center is now able to offer treatment to patients who would have previously been referred to Spokane or Seattle for care. The opportunity to provide patients with better treatment options in a facility close to home, near friends and family, were key considerations taken into account when the Center chose invest in this new technology.

While the new machine has added features and more options our current conventional accelerator continues to remain a very effective delivery method for certain cancers and will continue to be used when it is deemed appropriate. The patient’s healthcare provider will choose the best treatment delivery method for their patients.

For more information on whether this new system can provide the right treatment for you please speak with your healthcare provider or contact one of our Care Coordinators at the Center at 783-9894.

"Thanks to this new tool, radiation treatments are delivered faster, more precisely, and with fewer side effects which adds up to better care options for our patients."
